Dr. JoAnne Dodgson
JoAnne guides ceremonies, retreats, and community gatherings to support personal and collective healing and build the bridge to heart-centered ways of living.
For twenty-four years, JoAnne has been learning and living the path of the kala keh nah seh – a medicine storytelling tradition and ceremonial way of life. With deep respect and gratitude for ancestral ways, JoAnne shares the healing ceremonies with permission from lineage carriers and guidance and teachings from the spirits.
JoAnne has a doctorate in Counseling Psychology with a specialty in Holistic Health. As a therapist and community activist, she worked in trauma healing centers and college counseling centers. She has been on the faculty in Transpersonal Psychology, Women’s Studies, and Holistic Health programs. Earlier in her career, JoAnne was a teacher in public schools and residential programs for adolescents. She also served as the director of a women’s shelter.
To share her passion for the healing medicine of stories, JoAnne has written several books, including Spirit of Chocolate: A Woman’s Journey to the Rainforest in Search of Her Dreams and UnLeashing Love. She lives in the enchanted lands of New Mexico.
Michael Garcia - Acoma Pueblo
Michael Garcia is celebrated for singing his heartfelt songs on the Santa Fe Plaza, honoring his ancestors. He is a vibrant member of the Mongata Community. Join us for an afternoon of storytelling and singing at Mongata on November 9, 2025.
Imelda Almqvist
Imelda Almqvist is an international teacher of Sacred Art and Seidr/Old Norse Traditions (the ancestral wisdom teachings of Northern Europe). She published four books:
Natural Born Shamans: A Spiritual Toolkit for Life (Using shamanism creatively with young people of all ages), 2016
Sacred Art: A Hollow Bone for Spirit (Where Art Meets Shamanism), 2019
Medicine of the Imagination - Dwelling in possibility (an impassioned plea for fearless imagination), 2020
North Sea Water in My Veins: The Pre Christian Spirituality of the Low Countries, 2022
Imelda has also started her fifth book about the runes of the Futhark/Uthark, and has a series of picture books for children, The Green Bear.
Imelda has presented her work on both The Shift Network and Sounds True. She also appears in a TV program entitled Ice Age Shaman, made for the Smithsonian Museum, and in the series Mystic Britain, talking about Neolithic arctic deer shamanism.
In response to the 2020 pandemic, she opened an online school called Pregnant Hag Teachings to make more of her classes available online.
